I worked as a scientific researcher in the broad field of leisure, sport and culture for a long time, before moving on to other things. In recent years, I have regularly carried out evaluations and monitoring for projects and assignments. The aim is usually to see whether there has been a change in thinking or behaviour. For example, I carried out monitoring with Sandra Czerwonka for several international Storytelling Labs. Many research and monitoring assignments begin with mapping out and analysing the current situation — an environmental analysis or benchmark. Sometimes, it is necessary to evaluate practice and policy. In this area, too, I collaborate with partners at home and abroad who contribute their specific expertise. For example, together with Anke von Heyl and Sandra Czerwonka, I evaluated the diversity programme of the LWL-Henrichshütte museum in Hattingen, and we are currently evaluating the cultural development plan of the City of Düsseldorf (see projects).
